“Oh No it isn’t. Oh Yes it is. – a Panto Awakening”

This fairy tale re-telling pokes fun at technology with the audience complicit in finding, chasing and dealing with the ‘evil’ demon and the ‘good’ fairy by laughing, dancing and singing along.

Metro Theatre is thrilled to present Sleeping Beauty Wakes Up our Holiday Musical Pantomime, an annual tradition since 1985. The jolly panto hits the stage December 9, 2022 and continues through to January 2, 2023. Evening performances are at 7:30 pm with Matinees at 2 pm.

A wonderful rompish tale of a Princess on the prowl, a Nanny on the take, a Ninja Prince, and a King and Queen who haven’t a clue, all of them manipulated, cajoled and coached by a rhyming good fairy, a hungry Dame and a relentless demon instigator. There will be song and dance, tender moments, kissing, fight scenes, and a whole lot of mayhem!

Veronica Bonderud as Aurora and James Walker as The Dame lead a cast of 20 talented singers, dancers, and actors to bring the show to life with colourful scenery, sparkling costumes , toe-tapping tunes, dazzling dance routines, slapstick gags and oodles of audience participation.

A mash-up of classic fairy tale, modern, local and topical comedy, raucous escapades and hilarious situations. Filled with music you can sing along to, characters you can cheer and jeer at and an annual holiday celebration that is tradition here and all over the world.” – Claude Giroux, Director
